STEPS TO PERFORM AGNIHOTRA (अग्निहोत्र करने का क्रम)

1. Sit facing the east.
2. Place a flat piece of dried cow dung at the bottom of copper Agnihotra Patra.
3. Arrange other pieces in a way, which allows air to pass.
4. Apply a little ghee on small piece and light it.
5. Insert it in the pyramid.
6. When the fire is fully ablaze, at the exact time of sunrise and sunset make "AHUTI" or offering of rice grains and ghee uttering the mantra.
7. Give 1st AHUTI after chanting 1st mantra, and 2nd AHUTI after chanting 2nd mantra.
8. Sit until the fire is completely burnt taking slow and deep breaths.

AGNIHOTRA MANTRA (अग्निहोत्र मंत्र)

a) AT SUNRISE (सूर्योदय)

1. सूर्याय स्वाहा, सूर्याय इदम् न मम|
2. प्रजापतये स्वाहा, प्रजापतये इदम् न मम||
1. Sūryāya svāhā, sūryāya idam na mama,
2. Prajāpataye svāhā, prajāpataye idam na mama.

b) AT SUNSET (सूर्यास्त)

1. अग्नये स्वाहा, अग्नये इदम् न मम|
2. प्रजापतये स्वाहा, प्रजापतये इदम् न मम||
1. Agnaye svāhā, agnaye idam na mama,
2. Prajāpataye svāhā, prajāpataye idam na mama
